About Us
We are a family run business established in 1946 based in Bovingdon, Hertfordshire.
Our office and yard are located at 92 High Street, Bovingdon from where we supply solid fuel for collection pre-packed in 25kg bags and also deliver within 20 miles of Bovingdon (minimum quantity applies dependant on location) either loose tipped into a bunker or pre-packed in 25kg bags.
We pride ourselves on the quality of fuel offered and our staff can advise you on the type of fuel recommended for your specific requirements.
We are members of the CMF (Coal Merchants Federation) and ACMS (Approved Coal Merchant Scheme).

Oxbow Red Briquettes
Smokeless and easy to light with a long flickering flame, low ash and high heat. Suitable for open fires and multi-fuel stoves.
HOMEFIRE OVAL BRIQUETTES
Smokeless with an oval shape allowing the briquettes to pack together tightly. Slumbers well overnight and will burn for upto 9 hours. Suitable for use in open fires and multi-fuel stoves.
HOMEFIRE ECOAL50 BRIQUETTES
Smokeless and produced from 50% renewable materials.
Gives a high and sustained heat output, Homefire Ecoal50 is recommended for use on open fires and multi-fuel stoves.
Oxbow Glow Briquettes
High heat, Low ash slumbers readily and responds quickly as you allow a little air through the fire-bed. Suitable for use in open fires and multi-fuel stoves, a good alternative to Anthracite Nuts or Phurnacite.
PHURNACITE
Manufactured in the UK, Phurnacite is Britain’s No1 selling smokeless fuel for room heaters, boilers and cookers. For many years, Made from anthracite, Phurnacite is a hard, compact briquette with greater heat output and a higher heating efficiency than many other briquetted fuels. Phurnacite is slower burning and, therefore, longer lasting. Under controlled conditions the fuel is capable of banking for over 18 hours.
Anthracite Small Nuts
The high carbon content in anthracite means that it not only burns more cleanly than traditional coal; but also burns longer and hotter as well.
The lack of tar and minimal ash it produces makes it perfect for use in multifuel stoves.
